Wakehound is a driver drowsiness-detection app. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does with your camera, what it stores, and what it never does. We wrote it to match exactly how the app works today, not generic legal boilerplate.
Everything stays on your device. We don't collect, see, or sell your data.
1. What we process
Wakehound uses your device's front camera only to detect signs of drowsiness in real time, things like eye closure, blink rate, and head position, using an on-device machine-learning model.
- Camera frames are analyzed in memory, on your device, and discarded immediately after each frame is scored.
- No video or images are ever recorded, saved, or uploaded, not to us, not to any third party, not even temporarily to local storage.
- The camera is only active while you have an active monitoring session running in the app.
2. How it runs
All drowsiness detection happens fully on-device and offline. Wakehound's core monitoring feature does not require an internet connection, and we do not transmit your camera feed, detection results, or any other data to remote servers.
3. What we store, and where
The only data Wakehound keeps is stored locally on your device, inside the app's private storage. It is never transmitted anywhere.
Calibration data
Your personal eye/blink baseline, used to tune detection sensitivity to you.
App settings
Preferences like alert sounds, vibration, and screen-on behavior.
Trip / session history
Timestamps, duration, alert counts, and drowsiness scores for past sessions.
Optional profile
Medical notes and emergency contact details, if you choose to enter them.
None of this data leaves your device. We have no servers that receive it, and no way to view it.

5. What we never do
- We don't require you to create an account or sign in.
- We don't use analytics, crash-tracking, or behavioral tracking SDKs.
- We don't include third-party advertising networks or ad SDKs.
- We don't sync your data to any cloud service, there is no cloud component in the current version.
- We don't sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, because we never receive it in the first place.
6. Your rights and control
Because all data lives on your device, you are always in control of it:
- Access: you can view your trip history, calibration status, and profile information at any time within the app.
- Delete: you can remove individual items, such as emergency contacts, directly within the app. Uninstalling Wakehound permanently erases all locally stored app data (calibration, settings, trip history, and profile) from your device.
- Portability: since we don't hold a copy of your data, there is nothing for us to export on your behalf, what's on your device is the only copy.
7. Children's privacy
Wakehound is a driver-safety tool and is not directed at, or intended for use by, children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app does not collect or transmit data off-device in the first place, no information about any user, child or adult, is gathered by us in any case.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how Wakehound handles data in a future update, we will revise this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically, especially after updating the app.
